Blighter is a Cambridge-based technology company operating from design house Plextek. Founded in 2015 the company focuses on ground-based electronic-scanning radar systems for security and surveillance. Established by engineers Dr. Colin Smithers, Ian Murphy and Mark Radford they launched the business to detect low-visibility threats, particularly crawling or walking people up to 15km away. The units’ capabilities extended to operations on land, sea and airspace, serving the defence, government and infrastructure sectors. Now in 50 countries, their major markets are Eastern Europe and the Middle East, with their sales growing from £2.2m in 2024 to £16.2m in 2026.
