Mother Root is a bestselling non-alcoholic spirit. The fiery ginger aperitif was founded in 2018 by Bethan Higson, who has over a decade of experience in the luxury wine and spirits industry. The London-based brand was inspired by her discovery of ancient apple cider vinegar drinks recipes during her pregnancy. Craving more interesting evening drinks with bold flavour and bite, she started Mother Root with a toddler at home and a second baby on the way. Today they are stocked in Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Tesco and are on the lists of Michelin-starred restaurants. In late 2025, they expanded into the US, their first export market.
