Founded in 2004 by entrepreneur Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, The Black Farmer is a food brand. Raised in Birmingham after moving from Jamaica as a child, Wilfred worked on his father’s allotment, growing food to feed his family. This sparked his dream to own a farm in the British countryside. His career went on to include being kicked out of the Parachute Regiment, training as a chef, and working at the BBC producing food programmes with the likes of Gordon Ramsay and James Martin. At 40, he bought a farm in Devon. The business now sells, meat, fruits, vegetables and homeware from its farmhouses as well as through major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Ocado.
